Busyness is never an excuse

I’ve been M.I.A. LET ME EXPLAIN!

My life has taken a fast turn… and I mean FAST. I recently started graduate school full-time. And I legit feel like I’ve instead just started a full-time job! My classes have really been stretching me in ways I never knew I could be stretched. I’m learning skills I thought I had but really didn’t. And most importantly, I’m learning how to structure and balance my life so that I can have the time to do other things that are important to me, like spending time with God.

While this has been both tiring and rewarding, I often struggle with finding time for the Lord. To be honest, I usually don’t feel like praying to God and reading the Bible after a long day! By the time I get out of class for the day, run errands, do homework, clean up, talk to my family, play with my dog, I am DONE. Some nights, I feel so excited to dive into the Word or just spend quality time with God, but as soon as I get in the bed, I’m out.

The exhaustion has been real. I average 4 hours of sleep per night, and that’s on a good night! I’m currently facing the challenge of making sure my ministry isn’t suffering. And most importantly, that my relationship with God isn’t suffering.

Ladies, here’s an important thing to always keep in mind. If you are walking in the will of God, He is the one who placed you in the career path you’re on. He’s the One who created this pathway for you to be in school full-time, busy out of your mind. It is because of him that you landed the job of your dreams. He wouldn’t have given you that career if He didn’t think you could handle it. He wouldn’t have presented you with the opportunity to be busy out of your mind if He knew that you wouldn’t be able to prioritize Him and continue growing in your destiny.

My point is this: Busyness is never an excuse to neglect your Father in Heaven. You must be intentional with the time you spend in prayer, in the Word, or even in silence basking in His presence. Even if you have to set your alarm to go off 10 minutes before you would normally get up, make that effort! Because what will happen is, when we need the Lord to guide us through the busy season of our lives, or if we need discernment on the right or wrong moves to make in life, if we haven’t been spending time with Him, it will be so much harder to hear His voice.

And we don’t want that!

For those of you ladies who are building your empire, who don’t have time to get a full 8 hours of sleep, I want to encourage you to keep going!! But don’t leave God behind, we need Him more than ever as we build our careers. He is our strength when ours falls short.

but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their stregnth, they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 ESV

He is our guiding light. Who knows…God may present you with the chance to meet someone who will help you advance your career, but if you can’t hear His voice, how will you know to be at the right place at the right time?

I pray that you all intentionally choose to stay connected to the Lord, even when life is pulling you in so many different directions. He will pull you through! ❤
